Nikon - What's Going On?
With all the recent news coming from Nikon lately what is going on with them?
Firstly they announced losses of $260million in the final 9 months of 2016. Then 1000 workers being let go. This led to their stock falling about 15% meaning $1billion in value was erased.
Next up was the binning of the DL compact range. All of this was while they're celebrating their 100th year.
The DL range was first announced in February 2016 and planned to be released in June 2016, with the plan on it going head to head with the Sony RX100 range.
But they have announced a focus on the medium to high end DSLR range, mirrorless and lenses. This I think is good news and I believe it will mean they'll announce updates to the D610 and D750.
On top of this I would also like to see them run Nikon workshops much like Canon do. I'd love to see a higher end Nikon mirrorless system to compete with the Olympus OM-D EM series, Sony R7 range and the recently released Canon M5.
What do you think of this plan? What would you like to see them do?
