It's safe to say that in the job I use a lot of images and need to save loads of files, the same goes for home life with various children's photos and bits and pieces for blogs and podcast files. There is no way all of this would be able to fit on either my laptop or work computer so when the offer of a review for an external hard drive popped up it sounded perfect.
And here it is a Seagate STBV3000200 3TB External hard drive! What a thing of beauty it is and it's still very much portable at 3.8 x 11.8 x 18 cm in size.
Now I remember when a USB memory stick holding 4GB was massive or a floppy disk was amazing but this thing holds 3TB!!! THREE!!!!
To give you some sort of idea it will hold
· 2.5m photos
· 600,000 mp3
· 4,500 movies
That's roughly 30,000 hours of music, 1250 days or just under 4 years of non-stop music. Or if you prefer, 540,000 hours of movies. I'd be surprised if you'd ever fill this up. There must be a special prize for that.
Anyway this hard drive connects via USB 3.0 so it's super-fast and you just plug it in straight from the box and boom it works. Simply drag and drop the files and it's finished. No software to install it's that simple.
I've loaded so much on to mine already but I've not even made a dent in the storage and I have a feeling this will end up being a family heirloom that we pass down over generations until someone one day fills it.
The Seagate STBV3000200 3TB is available from Amazon.co.uk for about £85
