Robots are no longer just the stuff of science fiction. You can get loads of different types to help you out in your everyday life. They’re not just for the super-rich, either. The average household can get a robot of some description. They can make amazing gifts. Check out these ones!
When people think about cleaning robots, they usually think about Roombas. You know, those circular robotic vacuum cleaners that move around the floor on their own! Well, Roombas are definitely still cool and have advanced quite a bit over the years. But the Roomba is just one type of vacuum cleaning robot. There are loads of kinds out there, some even more advanced than the Roomba! Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like robotic cleaning has progressed much beyond the floor. Perhaps one day we’ll get a robot that can wash our cars… we certainly have enough robots driving them!
Playing a sport against a robot doesn’t seem to be very fair. A lot of people may think about those chess-playing robots who basically can’t lose. But when it comes to sheer flexibility, the human body definitely has the advantage. (Although it’s definitely easier for us to get injured!) Still, a sporty robot would definitely come in handy for things like practice. Well, there are actually robots out there who can help with such a thing. Table tennis robots, for example, can help you with your table tennis game. Handy if you’ve worn out everyone else you play against!
A lot of people see massages as a sheer luxury, something that only the rich can and should bother with. But that’s underestimating how much good a massage can do you. It’s not just about stress relief, although that’s more important than you might think. The health of our muscles is put to the test all the time in modern life. Someone who sits down all day - common in modern workplaces - is definitely at risk. A massage can help keep blood flowing to the areas that aren’t getting enough activity. (Although you shouldn’t use massages to replace exercise!) The problem, of course, is in finding someone willing to give you a massage. Well, why not make a robot massage you?
If you have a budding engineer in the family, then why not let them build their own robot? Of course, this isn’t the easiest way to get a robot in your home. But it’s more realistic than you may imagine. It doesn’t require an engineering degree. It can actually be done by children who are enthusiastic and willing to learn. (Such an activity can certainly help them understand engineering!) There are amazing kits out there that let you build your own robot. You can have it do a variety of awesome tasks!
The smallest cleaning robot in the world is designed to wipe the fingerprints off of your mobile phone screens. Although to tell you the truth, I can’t see why this is any less hassle than simply using a cleaning cloth. I’m probably going to stick to the cloth, thank you.
