October Calendars

It seemed last month that the calendars went down pretty well so I have made a few more for October.

There are once again two different sizes one of which is ideal for a desktop and the other can be printed and pinned on a wall.

I have also created a phone background which can be used also. It's a floral number with the hope it brightens up the gloomy October days.

If you click on the image it will open up a larger version and then right click and save as. You are then free to use it on which ever computer or screen you like.

The next version is ideal if you wish to print it out and put in on the wall or notice board. You can follow the same instructions above. This will be ok to print out at size A3 or below.

For the phone background you can save it on your computer and transfer it across of simply save it on the mobile device.

You are FREE to use these for personal use and not for resell. All I ask is you follow my accounts on social media as a little thank you.

Pretty in Pink - Point + Shoot

I love taking photographs...if I didn't this blog wouldn't exist. I take loads of photos every day and share the odd few on Instagram but I want to start sharing more of them on this site.

With this in mind I thought I'd join in with a linky called Point + Shoot.

My photo for this week is this beautiful flower from our garden. In our garden we're trying to keep the colour going for as long as possible.

You Baby Me Mummy

My Macro Photography Set Up with Olympus

Over the past week or so I've been sharing lots of macro photos on my Instagram and I've been asked a few times how I capture these photos.

I've been after a macro lens for ages but I can't afford one at the moment. I used to have a Tamron 90mm for my Nikon dSLR quite a few years ago. So I looked for an alternative way of capturing macro photos.

What I did was purchase a set of extension tubes for my Olympus OM-D E-M10 camera, these cost around £15 from Amazon and I've been really pleased with them.

The beauty of these tubes is that they fit straight to the body and then the lens goes on to that so any lens will work and fit to them. I know some screw into the lens like a filter but I found these are more versatile.

I've created a video to work with this blog too so please have a watch of this and hopefully it'll inspire you to have a go at macro photography.

September Instagram Themes

Before the Summer arrived I had been coming up with a theme each week for people to use on Instagram. Then things got busy and it slowly slipped my mind and I stopped doing this.

What better time to start than at the beginning of the month? The difference this time is I will announce all the themes for the month in one go. I will still collate my favourite photos from the week but at least everyone will know the themes in advance.

Here are the themes for September so tag away the photos that fit the theme and I will look forward to seeing them.

September Calendars

I thought for September I'd try something a little bit different. I've created a couple of calendars for you to download and use.

There is two different sizes available. The first is a simple one for your computer screen.

If you click on the image it'll open up a larger version and then right click and save as... you are then free to us it on which ever computer or screen you like.

The next version is ideal if you wish to print it out and put in on the wall or notice board. You can follow the same instructions above. This will be ok to print out at size A3 or below.

You are FREE to use these for personal use and not for resell. All I ask is you follow my accounts on social media as a little thank you.

Instagram Theme - #PhotalifeWATER

The theme for Instagram was #PhotalifeCHILDREN and judging by all the photos it was a popular theme. It was difficult to pick my favourite four photos to show people.

My favourite photo from my collection was this one.

Now it's time to pick the four photos to show, I've picked a few from different people in the hope you'll discover new accounts to enjoy.

This week's theme to join in with is #PhotalifeWATER, make of that what you will. Sea? River? Drink? It's completely up to you.

Instagram Theme - #PhotalifeB_W

I confess last week's Instagram theme of #PhotalifeFUN was picked because we knew we'd be at Disney so it seemed the perfect week to use it.

My personal favourite photo from the week is of course from Disney and it's this one as it signalled the start of our adventure.

I loved seeing other peoples take on the FUN theme and these are my favourites from the week.

This week's theme is Black & White so please tag your photos with #PhotalifeB_W and I look forward to seeing what people come up with.

Instagram Theme - #PhotalifeFUN

The theme for last week was #PhotalifeNATURE which I enjoyed as lots of my photos generally feature this theme.

My favourite photo of my own was this one.

There was lots of beautiful photos this week and I'm really grateful to everyone that joins in and I hope people enjoy it.

These are my favourites from this past week.

I'm hoping for blue skies this #bankholidayweekend! Do you have any plans?

These week's are flying past, and the the theme for last week was #PhotalifeSEASIDE. A theme I really enjoyed and produced some stunning photos and it seemed everyone had good weather.

My favourite photo from the week was this one from Brighton.

Now it's time to pick my favourite photos from the people who linked up.

Brighton Beach Shoot for Bone Clothing

Stepping out of comfort zones and challenging yourself is so important. As soon as you start to feel comfortable that's generally when your work starts to suffer. Personally I like taking landscape and floral photos, things that don't move and allow me to get 'comfortable'. Settings are a formality and almost second nature.

This week I faced a new challenge a challenge involving a model, a seafront and the sun. Living by the beautiful resort of Brighton gives you all sorts of possibilities and the best settings for a photo shoot. On Monday a shoot was planned and the weather seemed perfect so with my bags packed it was time to head out.

We had a plan, for a couple of fashion shoots using the sea, pier and anything else we could find to create a collection of photos for social media, adverts and portfolios. As a point this was stepping out of my comfort zone, but I knew I could work this. I don't use lighting only natural lighting but I hadn't expected it to be quite so bright and next time a reflector will be packed in my bag...you learn these things.

Overall I think it went well and everyone was happy with the photos we'd taken and the looks we'd created.

The model used was excellent and knew what to do and really didn't need me to tell him what to do. We both bounced ideas off each other some which worked and others that didn't but we weren't pressed for time so we had the freedom to try things.

The overall plan for the photos was to create things that wouldn't date for a few years, things we could look back on and may be in a year or so reuse them. There are a few more Summery photos in the collection and again I don't think they will date from year to year.

Instagram Theme - #PhotalifeSEASIDE

Tick tock the weeks fly past, the theme for last week was #PhotalifeREFLECTION which was a tricky theme but there's no point being boring and plain.

My own favourite photo was this one from Pells Pool.

Now time to pick my favourite photos from the people who joined in over on Instagram.

Seriously incredible scenes from earlier today at Sheffield Park Gardens. 😍🌳
