Arundel Wetland Reserve

Arundel Wetland Reserve

For 2019 we’ve created a list of 100 things to do as a family. The idea behind the list is to try new things, and also to cut down on screen time. The list consists of things like bake a cake, climb a tree, go litter picking and do something nice for a family member. A complete mix of days out, good deeds and other fun exciting things to do.

Bateman's National Trust | Getting Some Fresh Air

Bateman's National Trust | Getting Some Fresh Air

Our aim as a family this year is to visit more National Trust properties than we did last year. In 2018 we were very bad at visiting places but we want to correct this for 2019. The first one that we ticked off the list was Bateman's National Trust which is the former home of Rudyard Kipling.

Beautiful Beaumaris, A Family Day Out

Beautiful Beaumaris, A Family Day Out

We visited the beautiful town of Beaumaris as we'd been in a local town and fancied visiting a town with some shops and places to look around. Driving into the town it looks like a historic place kind of like Lewes in East Sussex or possibly Padstow in Cornwall.

A Family Day at Penrhyn Castle

A Family Day at Penrhyn Castle

Visiting Pili Palas, Anglesey

Visiting Pili Palas, Anglesey

Pili Palas is a farm/animal family attraction which is located in Anglesey. We were based in Bangor so this was a short 15-minute drive for us, simply crossing the Menai Strait and you're pretty much there.

To describe it I'd call it a secret gem, we might have gone at a quiet time but it's really worth a visit and we loved it. We got there at 10 am so for the first 15 minutes we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

A Day Out at Welsh Mountain Zoo

A Day Out at Welsh Mountain Zoo

On route to our weeks stay in North Wales we planned a stop off at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, this was midway between Stoke-on-Trent and our hotel.

As the name suggests this is high up in the mountains that surround Colwyn Bay and to get there you do feel like you are driving into the clouds. Narrow roads take you to the entrance gate and before you park up you have to pay the entrance fee to the staff in the wooden huts. Parking is free and plenty of it.
