Before we arrived in Wales a few people had mentioned GreenWood and when we got to our hotel we saw a couple of leaflets and it reminded us that this was a place we need to visit. The best way to describe this place is a theme park that is in the forest.
It doesn't have lots of massive rollercoasters but it has the UK’s only solar powered water slide, the world’s first people powered roller coaster, the longest sledge run in Wales. There is also giant bouncing pillars, donkey rides, zip lines, tree top climbing and archery plus a whole lot more.
The park opens at 10 am with a few things open at that time but things like the solar water slide doesn't open till 10.30 am. It's worth heading to the bare foot walk first as that seemed to get pretty busy and it meant we could enjoy it at our own pace. If you've never seen one of these you basically walk through various things such as water, sand, cobbles and more and it gives a strange feeling over each item.
Once you've done this I'd head to the water slide as this got pretty much and the line doesn't move too quickly. This slide is pretty huge and the girls loved it...the adults not so much!
There's certainly a lot to keep the family entertained but be aware that there are a few things that you still need to pay for such as the donkey/pony rides which were about £2 each. There might be a few other things but that's all we paid extra for.
Food plays an important part of any day for us, it seems so sooner have we stopped that they want a snack. A little tip would be to head to the snack hut by the theatre as it was really quiet there and you could get everything you wanted, we managed to get a couple of children's lunch boxes, a tuna sandwich and a bacon sandwich and there was no wait...I'm guessing most people simply head to the main cafe not knowing that this is there.
Of all the places we visited in North Wales this was our most enjoyable. So much to do and you could easily spend the whole day here. The gift shop wasn't the biggest which was a slight let down but that's because the girls always love a good shop to end the visit on. You won't be disappointed if you visit here.
