Visiting Pili Palas, Anglesey

Pili Palas is a farm/animal family attraction which is located in Anglesey. We were based in Bangor so this was a short 15-minute drive for us, simply crossing the Menai Strait and you're pretty much there.

To describe it I'd call it a secret gem, we might have gone at a quiet time but it's really worth a visit and we loved it. We got there at 10 am so for the first 15 minutes we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

A Day Out at Welsh Mountain Zoo

On route to our weeks stay in North Wales we planned a stop off at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, this was midway between Stoke-on-Trent and our hotel.

As the name suggests this is high up in the mountains that surround Colwyn Bay and to get there you do feel like you are driving into the clouds. Narrow roads take you to the entrance gate and before you park up you have to pay the entrance fee to the staff in the wooden huts. Parking is free and plenty of it.

This Summer we will be attending BBC Countryfile Live which will be a really unique event at Blenheim Palace in August. Countryfile Live will be an amazing day out for all the family with lots to keep us entertained. THe event runs from the 4th to the 7th and we'll be there on Sunday 7th.

The whole weekend will be perfect for everyone and keep families entertained with the four areas dedicated to animals and four areas for food lovers. For me personally I'm looking forward to the  arena show ‘The Countryfile Calendar’. This is a show that you can witness the four seasons in just 30 minutes.

My wife is looking forward to the food part with sessions from Brian Turner, Phil Vickery and John Whaite who won Great British Bake Off. I hope they have lots for us to try and also buy.

The girls are looking forward to the animal petting barn especially seeing the baby animals. I have a feeling they'll be wanting to bring some of them home with them.

There's so much going on including over 600 exhibitors, various talks and even a vintage fun fair.

Our Day Out at Sheffield Park

Bank Holiday seems like ages ago but it was only last week...the week's weather was rubbish except for the Monday so we decided that that was the day for us to head out to a new National Trust place. The one we visited this time was one that is only 10 minutes down the road but a place we'd never visited before...Sheffield Park.
