Taking Photos of the Moon | Quick Tips

Taking Photos of the Moon | Quick Tips

It's really no secret that I love taking moon photos, with this in mind I thought I'd write a little post about Taking Photos of the Moon and the settings I use and the results I get from my little camera. I'd like to point out that I am no expert, I'm not the greatest photographer but I seem to get pretty good results from my simple point and shoot camera. If you look at my Instagram profile you'll see that every week or so I will be standing outside taking a photo of the moon.

In Search of Christmas

We're fully deep into December, there is no getting away from Christmas. I thought it was time to head out into the woodland and have a look for signs of Christmas.

Our Christmas tree is up and Mia has taken to playing Christmas songs on repeat. We have the school play coming up and the girls have been digging deep into their advent calendars.

Although it's not officially Winter until the 22nd December, for me the start of December is the start.

#MySundayPhoto - Caught You

For weeks I've been trying to capture a bee enjoying some flowers and finally I got one. This isn't the best but I'm normally too slow off the mark.

So here is my attempt for #MySundayPhoto this week.

Have a great Sunday and I will comment over the week as I'm off to sell various rubbish at a boot fair, at least it'll be a sunny day for it.

Please tag the following accounts Instagram posts (@Photalife) Google+ Posts (+DarrenColeshill) Facebook Posts (Photalife) and Tweet me (@Photalife).

The awesome people at PhotoBox have joined in and are offering a 60 x 40cm Classic Canvas as a prize each month until the end of year. I will pick a winner at the end of the month.

The winning photo might not be from the person who took the most amazing photo but perhaps it will be a photo that tells a beautiful story, or a photo that brightened up the day.

Again thank you every much and please feel free to add the badge to the post.

There's something special about seeing your photos printed and hanging on the wall. My walls are gradually filling up with various prints that I've had made. The latest one that will be arriving soon will be my largest print to date at 41 x 61cm and I'm hoping it looks amazing.

This is a preview of what it should look like. I'm not totally sure where this will be hung, I'm thinking it will look good in my office or possibly to keep for an upcoming art show. The aim in the future it to get one that is over a metre wide.

So September has passed and we now seem to have entered Autumn and it's easily my favourite season. The changing colours to the fun things that it brings such as Halloween. Plus the countdown to Christmas can start.

The prize winner for September's canvas comes from mylifemylove and it's this stunning sunset that summed up their Summer.

The Gardens of Lanhydrock

The Gardens of Lanhydrock

If I was designing my dream house I would make sure that it also had a massive garden, a garden that months later you'd still be discovering new parts and one you'd never get bored of looking at.

We've got a pretty small garden, a patio, grass and a space to grow some vegetables in but at least we have one. When we were down in Cornwall we visited a National Trust place called Lanhydrock which is just outside of Bodmin.

Walking for our lunch

Walking for our lunch

Nothing makes you enjoy a meal more than when you've earned it and that was true for our meal we had in a place called The Old Inn in St Breward on the Bodmin Moors. We've stayed at Coombe Mill for the past three years and every time we make sure that we visit this place as the food is yummy, the portions huge and the place very welcoming. It's claim to fame is the fact that it is the highest inn in Cornwall.

#MySundayPhoto - Flowing Rivers

#MySundayPhoto - Flowing Rivers

This past week we've been enjoying our family break at Coombe Mill and instead of using one of the many photos of animals or Padstow etc which I will be showing off in various posts over the coming weeks I wanted to show these two photos. This is an effect I've wanted to try for a long time and it's shooting a longer exposure, flipping the camera to aperture mode and setting it to f/22 ISO200 and 1/8sec. I think I got the effect I was after with a little editing to add some colour to the water.
